7 Day Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro Machame Route (6 or 7 Day Treks)

Overview

For the serious climber, Mt Kilimanjaro is the jewel in the crown of those ‘must do climbs’ in one’s lifetime. The personal challenge of its unrelenting and arduous ascent, requires the climber to draw deeply upon their mental determination and to marshal their physical strength to achieve the summit, and then savor the exhilaration of this laudable personal achievement. While being immersed in the breath-taking views from its snow-capped peak.

Notwithstanding the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (the highest mountain in Africa) is not a walk in the park.

The high altitude (over 5,800ms) can cause Altitude Sickness, which happens when our bodies don’t have enough time to adjust to the lower levels of oxygen, at the summit. Headaches, nausea, racing heart and  Dyspnea ensue, aka (get rid of the abbreviation ) also known as Acute Mountain Sickness. This can be a medical emergency.

Notwithstanding, reaching the summit is achievable, and we’re with you every step of the way. You’ll be led by our experienced guides, with the assistance of trained porters, and our in-house doctor will accompany us.

Machame Route

While there are a number of different paths available to reach the summit, we’ve chosen to stay with the Machame Route. The spectacular scenery on the ascent, and its success rate, on account of its manageable gradient, as well the little extra time it takes, which reduces the risk of AMS are the reasons we favour this route.

The route has some steep sections, with a number of rises and valleys and including the celebrated Barranoc Wall. The scenery is stunning, and while traversing different climate zones, you’re in full view of Shira Plateau and the Lava Tower.

You’ll find this trek awe inspiring.
